Part-Time On-Call Ministerial Recorder

The Town of Central is seeking qualified candidates for the position of part-time Ministerial Recorder. Under direct supervision of the Assistant Judge, assist Municipal Court with case flow management by serving as the first contact between the accused (in custody) and a judicial officer. This contact provides the opportunity for the accused to be informed of his/her rights, nature of his/her charge(s) and possible penalties involved. Assist with the orderly case flow management including, but not limited to: conducting bond hearings (arraignments), review and grant search warrants, research, explain, and apply laws, rules and regulations. Review submitted complaints, determine sufficient probable cause, generate, and sign arrest warrants. This requires knowledge of the South Carolina criminal statues, as well as law enforcement procedure.  Determine the conditions, which if met, will allow the defendant’s release from custody. Inform the defendants of his/her rights and any sentence which may be imposed, in a manner which makes the information clearly understandable. Create and modify cases in the Court’s case management system and completing all required paperwork. Responsible for daily accountability of defendants in jail ensuring proper processing of all defendants.  Performs general administrative duties including data entry, typing, filing, etc. Provides On-Call coverage for the Town of Central. Requires successful completion of the Judicial Orientation Course conducted by S. C. Court Administration, passing a certification test and attending the required annual training as mandated by the S. C. Supreme Court. Salary for position is $400.00 per month.

Public Works Director

The Town of Central is accepting applications for a Public Works Director which is a municipality with the population of 5000. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.  Must have a SC Driver License and able to obtain a CDL within 6 months. In this position you will be over the Departments of the Water, Sewer, Sanitation, and Streets.  You must have or the ability to obtain in a timely manner, a Class “C” Water Distribution Operator and a Class “C” Wastewater Collection System Operator. In this position you will be involved with the budget for these departments along with the Finance Director and Administrator.  Applications are available at Town Hall, 1067 W Main Street Central or online at www.cityofcentral.org. Salary is $40,000- $50,000 yearly depending on qualifications.

Police Officer, Town of Central

Position hours: Full-time position 12- hour Rotation

 Job duties:

  • Responds to emergency police situations
  • Drives or walks to observe illegal or suspicious activities
  • Performs community-oriented proactive law enforcement work involving a variety of general or support duty assignments

  • Must possess a valid SC driver's license
  • Certification required
  • Pay info: $38,220- $40,404 annually with an excellent benefit package

Street Department 

The Town of Central is accepting applications for a full-time position in the Street Deapartment. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Must have a SC Driver License but prefer CDL or be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months.  Must pass a physical and drug test to be considered. Job Applications are available at Town Hall, 1067 W Main Street Central or online at www.cityofcentral.org.  Applications will be accepted until position is filled. The starting salary will be $29,640 depending on qualifications. We have an excellent benefit package.
